1 Corinthians is one of the most misunderstood and controversial books of the New Testament. The church world faces division over its teaching and application to everyday life. The book of Corinthians addresses fundamental issues such as:
- What is the real nature of the gospel and the church?
- What determines true biblical spirituality?
- How does the church retain its sense of identity and not be assimilated by the ever-changing culture it finds itself in?
- How do believers develop a proper view of God’s design in relationship to sexuality?
This course will explain how the gifts of the Spirit operate to build up the church rather than tear it down. The key theological issue presented by Paul is regarding the resurrection: How does a wrong view of the resurrection affect our current ethics?
There are seven key issues that will be examined over two courses offered by Dr. Paul Vallee on the book of 1 Corinthians. This 8-week course will focus on the first eight chapters, with Part 2 continuing through the winter encompassing the final eight chapters of the book.
