How did you first discover Living Stones Church?
I was attending a larger church here and there for a few years and wasn’t really making any connections. A coworker of mine suggested trying out LSC as it was a little smaller and when I attended I was pleasantly surprised and happy to make so many connections so quickly.
Do you have a story of answered prayer or “aha” moments?
I have a few!
- When I took a year off from college because my grades for vet school were not good enough to continue, I didn’t know what career to pursue as I spent my entire childhood dreaming of being a vet. I didn’t want to lose my passion for helping animals or love of nature and it was on an open house night at the college that I clearly heard God speak to me to be a teacher. I was able to receive honours all 4 years of my teaching degree! As His plans are greater than mine, I even got a job teaching grade 4, that is full of curriculum relating to my passions! He is so good!
- When I wasn’t sure of what church to plant myself in, I was in agony trying to decide what to do. I prayed with a member of LSC and it was made clear that God wanted me to stay here. A moment I remember as if it was yesterday!
- When I was unsure of my future with my now husband (we were just dating then), God asked me to be patient and to lay it all down as He is my first love; He knows my desires and best interests. It really hurt to be asked to trust Him because I thought I already did. How amazing God is as He has blessed me richly with a loving husband and beautiful daughter!
What’s it like for you to “do life” with us here at LSC?
Before becoming pregnant I was in a few different areas volunteering at the church. I was a youth leader, an usher, and a coffee host for Young Adults. I loved giving back to the church as they had given so much to me. Since having my daughter I have shifted towards Sisterhood and look forward to those Tuesday mornings for fellowship and prayer. We love coming to the service on Sundays and doing life with our church family!
Do you have any words of encouragement for someone who may be searching for God or is new to our church?
Spend time with God, in prayer and in His word! Don’t be afraid to move out of your comfort zone; it is those moments that I was shaped into who I am today. I am a pretty social person but act shy at first (hard to imagine if you know me;) I also have a huge germ problem. To fix this, a Pastor suggested that I try being an usher. It was through shaking hands and getting to know others that my uncomfortable feeling disappeared and I felt at home. Volunteering is one of the best ways to make connections.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
This church is an amazing support and is here for you, no matter what you are going through. I have been in some tough situations and have had to make very difficult decisions. When I am uncertain of what to do, I would spend time reading the Bible and I would reach out to my church family for prayer. I know that because of the love and support of the church that I am able to confidently continue pursuing God and His plans.
