The Meaning of Marriage is a class for singles, couples considering marriage, newly weds, and couples who have been married for a long time. Most people come into marriage with a set of expectations. Sometime verbalized but most often not, these expectations create a grid you and your spouse will use to evaluate the happiness and overall quality of your marriage. Inevitably the day will come when married life will not hold up to your expectations.
What if your marriage had a foundation that allowed it to flourish even, and especially in, the disappointing spaces of life?
“Timothy Keller’s The Meaning of Marriage draws a profound portrait of marriage that neither idealizes nor rejects the institution but points us to the relationship between God and man. The result is a vision for marriage that is refreshingly frank and unsentimental – yet hopeful, and relevant for thoughtful believers and non-believers alike.”
The study guide includes home study material, group discussion questions, and marriage plan exercises.
The six sessions are:
- Service: Marriage Isn’t about You
- Covenant: Created to Make Promises
- Roles: Loving through Mutual Submission
- Singleness: Strengthening the Spiritual Family
- Sex: The Act of Covenant Renewal
- Hope: Seeing the Great Horizon
If you are interested in taking this profound, life-giving class, please make sure you sign up and order your books by August 5th.
You can register online, at the Information Centre, or at the church office.
